In 1982, Stephen Tweed was standing in the kitchen of his home in Oil City, Pennsylvania, when the phone rang on the kitchen wall. It was Dr. Robert Smith, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Oil City, and Stephen's Pastor. Dr. Smith was chairman of the board of the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County. He was calling on his friend and congregation member for some assistance in Strategic Planning.
Since then, Stephen Tweed has worked with home health care agencies and Private Duty Home Care businesses that wanted to grow. He became a frequent speaker at home care association conference and conventions, and a facilitator of the Strategic Planning process for hundreds of home care agencies across the country.
Fast forward to December 2002. Stephen and his son, Jason, were talking about how they might work together to find new and different methods to transform the home care industry. Jason, then 32, is physically disabled, lives in a wheelchair, and uses the services of home care on a daily basis. Father and son spent several hours discussing how they could combine Stephen's 20 plus years of experience as a healthcare strategist, professional speaker, and consultant with Jason's knowledge of internet-based marketing and his 30 plus years of experience as a consumer of home care services and his expertise as a relationship builder and web designer.
On Christmas Day, 2002, Jason and Stephen logged onto the internet and registered the web address www.leadinghomecare.com. Leading Home Care …a Tweed Jeffries company was born.
Today, Leading Home Care is the leader in providing ideas, information, and expert resources to executives of home care companies in three specific areas; business development, leadership development, and Private Duty Home Care. Leading Home Care is a virtual corporation, with it's "world headquarters" in Louisville, Kentucky. Sales, Marketing, and internet services are located in Northumberland, Pennsylvania.
