Happy Independence Day from LHC ![]()
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Happy Independence DayA Five Minute Request this Fourth of JulyJuly 3, 2007~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Friends,
Happy 4th of July
For many of us the 4th of July represents a relaxing day off work with friends and family. We eat potato salad, baked beans, watermelon and your uncle or brother-in-law has declared he is "in charge" of the grilling. Just because he hasn't cooked a thing since last 4th of July doesn't mean he's not an expert chef!
Independence Day, as July 4th is more appropriately called, is a celebration of freedom. Sometimes this is overlooked. It saddens me because we often take for granted the fact that we live in the country that has more individual freedoms than any other.
The United States of America has its challenges, controversies and sometimes questionable politics, but what makes us great is that we have the freedom to question our leaders, and to support beliefs we are passionate about.
From a group of men in white wigs who were called visionaries by some, and traitors by others, to the military personnel and political leaders of today, many men and women have made hard decisions and personal sacrifice in the name of this freedom.
I'm not trying to put a damper on your celebratory plans but I ask you to do me one favor. Take the five minutes between your final bratwurst of the day and the first fireworks of the evening, and spend it in thanks. Say a silent thank you to our military personnel, to leaders past and present, and if you believe, say thanks to God as well for providing you with a home where you can eat with friends and watch fireworks and never question your freedom.
My best,
Jason Tweed, Director of Business Development, Leading Home Care
P.S. My Personal ThanksAs a person with a disability I want to say one public thanks.
Thank you to all the men and women who are working on the 4th of July caring for the frail, elderly and people like me, with physical disabilities. You represent a tier of freedom that only a handful of us understand and respect. If it weren't for you I personally wouldn't be able to enjoy the freedoms this country offers me.
My very best,
Jason
