I apologize,

. . . for a serious error in yesterday's issue of Leading Home Care report which caused the lead article on presidential candidates to be biased.

I hope you will accept my apology and forgive me for stepping onto dangerous ground.

My Mistakes

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In yesterday's article, I printed a list of bullet points regarding the position of the candidates. I omitted a key bullet point under Mr. Obama's name.
I'm really feeling foolish as I sit here looking at the sheet of yellow tablet paper with the list of points and my notes for the article. The list of points was supposed to read:
John McCain
  • Supports Home Care
Barack Obama
  • Supports home care
Both candidates have stated that they support home care, and are aware of the positive role that home care plays in the health care system in our country. Beyond that, they have dramatic differences in their positions on many other issues.
The second error was including any other points on the list. Rather than trying to objectively summarize the key positions of these two candidates for you, I would have served you better by simply acknowledging that you do your home work and are perfectly capable of defining the issues and each candidates position on the issues.
The Impact Of Politics On Home Care
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As you know, I am a health care and business strategist. My focus is working with home care companies that want to grow, and with home care leaders who want to get ready for the future.

Part of what we do is monitor the forces and trends that are shaping the future of home care. We regularly monitor five forces, or pressures that cause change:

  • Economic Pressure
  • Demographic Change
  • Consumer Choice
  • Technology
  • Political Change

At this point in time, political change is a huge force, and it is important for all of us to be thinking about the impact.

It is not my intention to influence your vote. It is my intention to influence how you think strategically about the future of home care and the future of your agency.

Again, my apology for the error. I hope you will forgive me.

Best regards,

Stephen Tweed
