In the fall of 2003, Leading Home Care conducted a survey of readers of our electronic newsletter, Stephen Tweed's Leading Home Care Report. 177 home care executives from across the country responded to the survey. Based on that research data, we have identified "The Top Ten Techniques of Highly Effective Home care Marketers."

From the survey, we learned some very important lessons that will be of interest to every home care marketer and executive in America. Such things as:

• The most frequently used techniques are networking, health fairs, direct sales, ad specialties, web site, and public speaking
   

• The most effective techniques including networking and community relations, direct sales, public relations, continuing education, broadcast television, and public speaking
   

• Several of the most effective techniques are not frequently used by many home care companies.
   

• 46% of respondents rated their own marketing efforts as fair or poor. Only 15% rated their marketing efforts very good or excellent.
   

• The areas where respondents want to learn more in order to grow their businesses include sales training, networking, public relations, electronic marketing, public speaking, and special events.
