I’ve been thinking about the impact of AI on Home Care.

Three things happened this week that have totally shifted my awareness and thinking about Artificial Intelligence. First, I’ve been reading a new book that was recommended to me called “Reshuffle” by Sangeet Paul Choudary. He’s a senior fellow at UC Berkley, and a strategic advisor to C-suite leaders in 40 Fortune 500 corporations. His book really gave me a new perspective on AI as he described the three levels of impact; tasks, organizational systems, and competitive ecosystems.

Second, I attended a wonderful online learning session on AI hosted by the Veteran Speakers Network, a network of professional speakers who have been in the business for a long time. The presenters were  • Terry Brock – AI Keynote Hall of Fame Speaker, and • Gina Carr, MBA, Fractional CMO. They gave us some practical insights into how we can use AI to accomplish all kinds of interesting and useful tasks quickly and effectively in our speaking businesses or our personal lives.

Third, I’ve been working on the final preparation for the 2026 Future of Home Care Study, which we just launched yesterday. This is the third year for this fascinating research where my company, Leading Home Care, attracts hundreds of Home Care CEOs to give us their insights and knowledge about the factors that are affecting the future of our industry.

“The Real Impact of AI comes NOT from how it performs a task, but from how it restructures the entire system around the task.”

Sangeet Paul Choudary, Reshuffle

The principles presented in this book will reshape the future of Home Care. Choudary helps us understand that “it’s not the technology, it’s the system.” He helps us look at AI in three levels:

  1. Tasks – AI restructures roles by minimizing decision making and helps put tasks into repeatable workflows.
  2. Organizational Systems – AI will continuously improve systems inside companies to increase performance and reliability across the company.
  3. Competitive Ecosystems – AI will help organizations restructure the way they do business to create strategic market advantage.

In our ongoing work with Home Care companies in the Top Tier of our industry through the Home Care CEO Forum, we have had many conversations about how members are currently using AI. We are seeing some very innovative ways that Home Care CEOs are using AI to improve tasks in sales, marketing, recruiting, social media, and communication.

The next step is using AI to improve systems. As Leading Home Care, we have identified the Twelve Systems of a Highly Effective Home Care company. With these new insights, we’ll be exploring how to use AI to improve these internal systems.

In the future, we see huge opportunities for leaders in Home Care to apply AI to totally transform the Home Care Competitive Ecosystem, We are already working with some industry thought leaders on how this will transform Home Care.

Using AI to Transform Tasks

This past Friday I participated in an online learning session sponsored by The Veteran Speakers Network, and presented by my friends and professional speaking colleagues, Gina Carr and Terry Brock. Gina and Terry are both award winning professional speakers, authors, and technology gurus.

In this interactive online workshop, Gina and Terry demonstrated some very practical applications for AI tools ChatGPT and Perplexity.

I have used ChatGPT a fair amount to help me speed up the process of doing market research, developing business growth strategies, and refining Home Care processes like Sales, Marketing, Recruiting, and Retention.

Terry did a live demonstration and showed us how to take ChatGPT to a new deeper level, and how to use the different settings to get different answers. He also introduced us to Perplexity, which I had heard of but never used. Together these two tools will really improve my personal productivity.

Gina took us on a deep dive into LinkedIn, and how some of the AI features and algorithms are shifting. Her insights will help me go much deeper into LinkedIn, where I already have 16,800 followers.

Learning more about AI and Home Care with the 2026 Future of Home Care Study.

For the past month, I’ve been working with my friends at AxisCare to refine the survey for the 2026 Future of Home Care Study. This year, we have added some new questions based on last year’s data, and we have added a whole new section on AI.

This year’s study has three major sections; Industry Trends, Technology, and Impact on Medicaid Companies. The questions fall into these categories:

  • The Twelve Systems of a Highly Effective Home Care Company
  • Major Pain Points for Home Care CEOs
  • External Forces and Trends shaping our industry
  • Greatest Opportunities for Home Care Business Growth
  • Payer Sources providing the Greatest Opportunity
  • Technology Trends with the greatest impact
  • Applications for AI in Home Care with the greatest impact
  • Home Care Operating System utilization and satisfaction.

For those companies that generate a majority of their revenue from Medicaid, we have four more big questions:

  • Concerns about Electronic Visit Verification – EVV
  • The Most Important Issues regarding implementation of EVV
  • The Economic Impact on Home Care of the One Big Beautiful Bill
  • The impact of OBBB in Medicaid Expansion States.

If you are a leader of a company providing Home Care Services, or the leader of a company serving the Home Care industry, we would love to get our insights on these questions. Last year, we had over 270 participants respond to the survey, and we are expecting an even larger response this year.

This week I was in Nashville, TN to present the opening keynote presentation for the Seniors Helping Seniors franchise conference. My topic was "Visioneering Home Care."
