What does it take to make a great CEO in the home care business?

This is a question we’ve been asking and answering for the past 18 Years.  In January of 1997, I was sitting in the office of the CEO of one of the largest home health care companies in the state of Maine.  We were talking about the home health industry, and the need to develop the next generation of home care leaders.

That conversation led to the creating of the 1997 Home Care CEO Leadership Study.  The survey of 200 home care CEOs enabled us to identify the Top Ten Competencies of Highly Effective Home Care Leadership Academy ManualLeaders, and we created the Academy for Home Care Leadership.  The research, and the resulting educational program led us to create the company we have today … Leading Home Care … a Tweed Jeffries company.

Well, much has changed in 18 years and it’s time to take another look at what makes a highly effective home care leader.

The 2016 Home Care CEO Study

As many of you know, my wife, business partner, and best friend Elizabeth Jeffries, RN, is an award winning professional speaker, executive coach, and author of the powerful book, The Heart of Leadership.  While sitting on the beach in Cape May, New Jersey last August, Elizabeth and I were discussing my breakfast meetings the previous day with the CEO of perhaps the largest privately held home care company in America.  My conversation with him and the follow up discussion with Elizabeth led us to a decision.  We decided to create a totally new CEO study.

Our purpose is to identify the leadership styles, workplace motivators, and core competencies of CEOs in the to 10% of home care.  Using a tested, validated, and reliable assessment tool; the TriMetrix DNA from TTI Success Insights, we set a goal to survey 300 home care CEOs.

There are three segments of home care we want to study:

  • For-profit home health agencies
  • Not-for-profit home health agencies
  • Private Duty Home Care Companies

Our goal is to have 100 CEOs from each of these segments complete the assessment tool.  Once we have all of the data, the research department at TTI Success Insights LLC, headed by Dr. Ron Bonstetter, will help us analyze the data and create a role benchmark for the position of home care CEO.  We will then write a detailed research report for the industry, and turn that report into a powerful interactive learning program to develop new leaders in home care.

If you are the CEO of a home care company in the top 20% of one of those three categories, and you would like to learn more about your own leadership style, workplace motivators, and core competencies, then we would encourage you to take the assessment. It will take you about 30 minutes of uninterrupted time to answer the questions.  As soon as you have completed the survey, you will receive an email with your own personal TriMetrix DNA report

What’s In It for Me?

Why would you want to participate in this study?  The biggest reason is that leaders are learners.  The CEOs of the top home care companies I’ve met are always looking for opportunities to learn more about Sample Report Coverthemselves, their companies, and their industry.  This is a tremendous opportunity for you to learn more about yourself and other top tier leaders in home care.  When you complete the TriMetrix DNA survey, you will receive:

  1. Your own personal copy of your Success Insights TriMetrix DNA report that shows your behavioral style, workplace motivators, and leadership competencies.
  2. A 30-minute telephone debriefing of your report and what it means with a member of the Leading Home Care Talent Solutions Team
  3. A copy of the final 2016 Home Care CEO Leadership Study Research Report

The only cost to you is 30 minutes of your time.

Participation is Limited

In order to study the CEOs of the highest performing home care companies, we are limiting the survey to CEOs in the top 20% of each industry sector. That means we want CEOs of Private Duty Home Care companies that generate $2.5 million or more in revenue annually, and CEOs of Medicare Certified Home Health Agencies that generate $5 million or more in revenue annually.

If you fit the top 20%, you are eligible to do the study.  If your company is not there yet, don’t fret. We will give you an opportunity to take the assessment and learn about yourself and how you compare to the top tier CEOs after the initial study is completed.
