2016 is turning out to be another big travel year for Elizabeth and me as we work with home care companies across the US and Canada.  We’re even stretching our boundaries this year by working with one of the largest home care companies in Australia.

When I travel, I carry a lot of stuff for work.  The two things that are always in my computer bag are my Microsoft Surface Pro tablet, and my copy of the 2015 Private Duty Benchmarking Study from Home Care Pulse.  I actually have two copies of the 2015 study. One resides in my computer bag, and the other rests on the work table behind my desk.  I use the home care benchmarking study report nearly every day to answer a question for a client, add some data to an article, or check some facts for an upcoming keynote speech.

As the owner for CEO of a growing home care business, you need to know what’s happening in the industry, and how your agency compares to the industry benchmarks.  Not only do you want to have a copy of the report, but you want to go through the process of submitting your data for the study. By using the Home Care Benchmarking Study Preparation Worksheet, you will dig out the relevant facts and data about your own home care business. You will be amazed at what you learn about your own company by preparing for the study.

Once you submit your data, you will then be able to use the final home care benchmarking study to make comparisons between your company and the rest of the industry.

To get started, download the survey preparation worksheet.  This tool will help you gather the data you will need to complete the online survey.  The more time you spend preparing ahead of time, the less time it will take to actually complete the survey.  As I said, while having the study results is great, going through the process of preparing will be most valuable.

Then do your diligence and gather the data. It’s a lot of work, but you will be among the leaders in the industry who really understand their own companies and the home care industry.

Artificial Intelligence in Home Care

I've been thinking about the impact of AI on Home Care. Three things happened this week that have totally shifted my awareness and thinking about Artificial Intelligence. First, I've been reading a new book that was recommended to me called "Reshuffle" by Sangeet Paul Choudary. He's a senior fellow at UC Berkley, and a strategic advisor…
