Our very own Stephen Tweed was honored with the Cavett Award at this year’s National Speakers Association (NSA) convention in Indianapolis.
NSA’s website describes the award best:
“The Cavett Award is NSA’s most cherished award. It is presented annually to the member whose accomplishments over the years have reflected outstanding credit, respect, honor and admiration in the Association and the speaking profession, and whose actions (in terms of sharing, guiding and inspiring other members) most closely parallel the illustrious career of our Founder Cavett Robert, CSP, CPAE.
Likewise, Cavett displayed an uncanny ability to inspire others and share his wisdom and expertise. “A desire to help others is our most noble attribute; it gives immortal momentum to life and is our only certain path to heaven,” he would say. Hence, the Cavett Award, the highest award bestowed by NSA, was created to celebrate and honor those members whose careers demonstrate the spirit of sharing, guiding and inspiring other professional speakers.”
As Stephen’s daughter, I could go on and on with all of the additional reasons that Stephen deserves to receive this distinguished honor, but mostly it’s because you will find the spirit of Cavett in every aspect of his life – from his speaking career, to working with his clients, to serving his church, to caring for and supporting his wife and family, to raising his children and teaching his grandchildren.  That’s reason enough for Stephen to officially join the ranks of previous Cavett Award winners and Cavett Robert himself.

Below are a couple pictures of Stephen’s big night at NSA.

Stephen’s initial reaction to his name being announced and waiting for the applause to die down so he can begin his acceptance speech.
It was a requirement to take The Cavett Award to breakfast the next morning!
Congratulations, Dad!
