I’ve been thinking a lot …about The Future of Home Care.

Happy Happy Happy New Year, my friends.

It’s been a while since you’ve heard from me. Elizabeth and I took a sabbatical from our business and spent a month in South America. We left southwest Florida and flew to Santiago Chile. After a few days there and in Valparaiso, we boarded a ship and sailed south on the west coast of Chile and through the Chilean Fjords. After stops in several ports in Chile, we went to Ushuaia, Argentina, around Cape Horn, and over to Port Stanley, Falkland Islands. Then northwest to Argentina and ended in Buenos Aires for a few days. Then a flight up to Rio De Janeiro.

Traveling the world is the most amazing learning experience I know of. I encourage you to carve out time from your business to travel.

The highlight for us was standing at the foot of Christ The Redeemer in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, on top of a mountain looking out over the harbor and the ocean. Simply amazing.

Factors Affecting the Future of Home Care

I was really ready for our sabbatical after spending two months gathering data, analyzing the data, and synthesizing the factors affecting the future of Home Care from our 2026 Future of Home Care Study. This is the third year of this industry-leading research, and the new insights that came from this study are really significant.

Again, this year, we worked with AxisCare to conduct the study, analyze the results, and to write the White Paper. The communication team at AxisCare is amazing to work with, and they have done a wonderful job taking our data and information and turning it into a short, concise, well-written and graphically appealing report.

The results of our study give you, as a Home Care CEO and industry leaders, some new insights into the major factors affecting your future. Here are just a few of the lessons learned:

  • Pain Points are shifting, causing Leaders to Refocus Priorities
  • Artificial Intelligence Is the Leading Technology Trend & Will Reshape How We Do Home Care
  • The One Big Beautiful Bill Will Impact the Future of Home Care, Particularly for Medicaid-Focused Agencies
  • Growth Opportunities Are Evolving With a New Focus on Technology & AI

The White Paper has some very specific calls to action for Home Care leaders. After analyzing the data, tabulating the information, and summarizing the key results, we have suggested some very specific things you can do to apply this information to grow your business and get ready for the future.

  • Look at your core operating systems and identify where greater consistency, automation, and use of technology or AI can improve efficiency.
  • Share this study with your leadership team and discuss your organization’s top pain points, focusing on what can be addressed immediately
  • Review the industry trends outlined in this report and determine which ones will most directly impact your agency over the next three to five years
  • Revisit your long-term vision and discuss how your goals for growth, profitability, and scale may need to evolve

There’s much more in the report, and I’m confident you will find it valuable, and worth your time to download the white paper and review the results.
