We recently surveyed over 320 Home Care agency Founders, Owners, and CEOs as part of the 2026 Future of Home Care Studyconducted by Leading Home Carean published by AxisCare. From last year’s survey we found that many Home Care leaders are looking at the possibilities for AI in their businesses, so this year we dug more deeply into the potential uses for AI in Home Care.

Here is the list of Top Five Applications of AI:

1. Caregiver and Client matching, and automated scheduling
2. Caregiver Utilization, balancing schedule and desired hours
3. Care Plan visit documentation
4. Caregiver engagement and retention
5. Caregiver recruiting funnel optimization

We are already seeing a number of companies applying AI in these areas of the business.

What about YOU?

In your business and your marketplace, how will AI shape how you work in the future?

How will AI improve systems in your organization?

How will AI reshape the competitive ecosystem?

Over the past several months I’ve been interviewing leaders in tech companies and leaders in Home Care about how they are applying AI, and how they see AI transforming the Home Care Industry.

While we are in the very early states of implementing AI in Home Care, there are already some very interesting things being done. In fact, all five of the top five applications are being utilized somewhere right now.

Don’t be Left Behind

Early in my study of AI in Home Care, I read a very interesting book by Sangeet Paul Choudary, Senior Fellow at the Tusher Strategic Initiative for Technology Leadership at University of California, BerkeleyHaas School of Business.

Reading his book really shaped my thinking and encouraged me to study AI in Home Care. I had stayed away from AI because I’m not a techy guy and I didn’t understand how it works on the inside. I’m a strategy guy, and I explore and study the bigger strategic issues affecting Home Care.

Choudary helped me see that AI is really a strategic tool that will transform tasks, systems, and competition in the marketplace.

I really got excited about the idea of how technology and AI will transform the Competitive Ecosystem of our industry. The application of AI will result in a totally different Home Care marketplace over the next three to five years.

If you and your leadership team are not all on the same page about technology and AI, you’ll be left behind.
