I’ve been thinking about what it takes to craft a new company culture in your Home Care Company.

Several years ago I received a phone call from the owner and CEO of the largest Home Care franchise in the second largest Home Care Franchise organization. He invited me to work with him and his team on crafting their company culture.

In our first meeting, he told me the story of Roger, his father in law, and how caring for Roger during his final years was the motivation for him and his family to start their Home Care business. In the corner of their main office is a picture of Roger, his favorite chair, and the saying, “What would Roger want?”

This story set the stage for their process of reframing and recrafting their company culture. The results were amazing.

Remembering this experience reminded me of some words of wisdom in the book, The Storyteller’s Secret, by Carmine Gallo. It is he says …

“A great culture helps attract great people. Just as customers are attracted by uncommon service, amazing people are attracted by a great culture. A company leader, by definition, sets the vision. The backstory gives the vision meaning.

Over time, culture turns into incredible competitive advantage that no one can take away from you.”

Amazing company cultures are created when the founder tells their story over and over again because it’s a gift that has shaped their life, career, and business.

What’s your story?

How are you using your personal story to craft an amazing culture in your Home Care company?

Have you mastered telling your own story?
